All State Chorus Auditions and Prep
New All State Prep Resource!
Over the years I have put together a number of different exercises to help singers prepare for the All State Sight Reading portion of the audition. This year, I added a few and then published them in one big resource. This new book contains nearly 60 pages of printed exercises with audio files that will help singers become stronger sight readers and boost confidence while preparing for the audition. Purchases makde M-F from 6am-6pm EST will recieve their digital book with access to the audio files within 24 hours. Thiis book will be available here for a lower rate only for a short period of time before the publication moves to a different platform.
GMEA is currently planning to hold All State Chorus for the 2023/24 school year on February 15-17th 2024. Home school students, or students who attend a Middle or High School without a program giving you a path to All State Chorus have the opportunity to register and audition for Georgia All State Chorus through VOCE. Students who are planning to register through their school music program can attend our audition prep classes to help give them that extra boost! Each age range of 7/8th, 9/10th, and 11/12th have separate audition challenges and music. Each class will be specific to the requirements of the singer’s age group to best help them prepare.
Class Date Options: 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/15
Class Times: 7th/8th – 1:00-1:45pm, 9th/10th – 1:45-2:30pm, 11th-12th – 2:30-3:15pm
VOCE has the ability to send up to 50 singers to audition for All State. This opportunity is open to all private voice students, anyone who registers for VOCE’s Advanced Voices, and singers who register for the All State Audition Prep classes.
GEORGIA ALL STATE AUDITION REQUIREMENTS 1. Sing the Major, Minor, and Chromatic scales 2. Sight Read three, 4 measure examples 3. Perform solo selected by GMEA
IMPORTANT DATES FOR ALL STATE PARTICIPATION PROCESS
DATE TBD – Local Middle School Mock Audition Registration Deadline (Optional for 7th and 8th Grade)
DATE TBD – Local Middle School Mock Audition at SIMS 9am-1pm (Optional for 7th and 8th Grade)
September 10, 2023 – All State Registration and Payment due to VOCE
November 4, 2023 (TBD)- 1st All State Audition (Location TBA – Students will secure their own transportation to and from auditions)
November 28, 2023 – Results are usually posted during or just after Thanksgiving Break
December 9, 2024 – All State Acceptance Payment Due to VOCE (music will then be ordered and you will recieve music and practice tracks to prepare for the 2nd audition)
January 18, 2024 (TBD)- Final All State Audition (Greenbrier Middle School ) 4:00pm-finished (Results come quickly)
February 22-24, 2024 – All State Chorus Weekend in Athens Ga
